Process

PROCEDURE, also called MEDICAL NAME, is an IN/OUTpatient surgery procedure, done under LOCAL SEDATION/GENERAL ANESTHESIA, lasting about X hour(S). Incisions can be placed LOCATION(S). When performing PROCEDURE, our surgeons EXPLANATION.

After PROCEDURE Surgery

Some temporary soreness and swelling can be expected. Medication prescribed by the plastic surgeon will control discomfort, if needed. Expect to IMMEDIATE LIMITATIONS ON THE DAY OF SURGERY (i.e. rest at home, be up and walking but not driving, etc.). Also consider arranging care from a friend or family member for the first TIME PERIOD following surgery, and possibly EXTENDED TIME PERIOD or so longer. Risks for PROCEDURE are minimal, but include RISKS. The risks, and what to do if symptoms appear, will be discussed in detail before surgery.

Follow Up

You will have a follow-up appointment approximately LENGTH OF TIME after surgery.

Recovery

Instructions tailored to your procedure and experience will be provided after your PROCEDURE. These instructions will be very detailed, including everything from the type of clothing to be worn to when to return to work and how soon normal activities can be resumed. Generally, our plastic surgeons recommend walking around and light activity as soon as possible, but pushing, pulling, lifting, and twisting should be avoided until approved. Expect a return to work in LENGTH OF TIME (depending on the level of activity required in your job), moderate exercise in LENGTH OF TIME and full activity in LENGTH OF TIME. Fading of scarring occurs within LENGTH OF TIME.
